Biography
With regard to business litigation, Ms. Love has significant
experience in the area of contractual disputes, both defending
and pursuing such claims successfully and defeating many such
complaints at the motion level. Ms. Love is knowledgeable on the
legal issues surrounding contract drafting, lease agreements,
conflicts between business associates, gas station operations,
garnishments and dispossessory proceedings. Ms. Love has also
represented both individuals and local and national
organizations in both state and federal court actions involving
fraud claims as well as various consumer protection statutes and
mortgage and foreclosure statues. She has dealt with alleged
violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations
Act (“RICO”), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ("FDCPA"),
the Truth-In-Lending Act ("TILA"), and the Real Estate
Settlement Procedures Act ("RESPA").
With regard to family law, Ms. Love has experience in a variety
of areas including divorce, child custody, child support,
modification, contempt, legitimation, paternity and actions
involving the Family Violence Act. Ms. Love’s business
litigation background provides the experience and ability
necessary to analyze financial and other business documents for
her family law cases, particularly those involving large marital
estates or family businesses in need of equitable division. Ms.
Love approaches her family law cases with the goal of balancing
the legal demands of the case and the emotional and financial
needs of her client. Although Ms. Love strongly believes that
the most emotionally and financially effective means of
resolving domestic relations matters is through a collaborative
approach, she is ready and willing whenever necessary and
appropriate to utilize fierce debate skills in and out of the
courtroom to advocate for her client.
Prior to joining Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, Ms. Love worked for a
mid-sized law firm, during which time she researched a plethora
of legal issues, made numerous court appearances and drafted
various motions for complex commercial litigation cases. Ms.
Love graduated in the top 6% of her law school class in 2009
from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, where she served on the
school’s law review staff and mock trial team. During her time
in law school and immediately thereafter she was fortunate to
intern at the Cobb County District Attorney’s office and the
Dekalb County Public Defender’s office where she participated in
appeals, arraignments, jury selection and extensively observed
the justice system in action. Ms. Love also received hands-on
experience in mediation, negotiation and client counseling in
several law school courses. Ms. Love also completed the
requirements for mediator certification in Georgia.
