General Background
Robyn C. Benkendorf is an associate with Meriwether
& Tharp, LLC and practices in the areas of business litigation and
transactions. Ms. Benkendorf has gained considerable experience with
arbitration, and is well versed in the various rules and guidelines
governing this type of alternative dispute resolution. She has
participated in various types of arbitrations ranging from large-scale
commercial cases to small-scale employment actions involving several
different dispute resolution forums, including the American Arbitration
Association. Ms. Benkendorf is also knowledgeable on appellate practice
in both the Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court, and the legal
issues related to contract drafting and disputes, lease agreements,
conflicts between business associates, gas station operations and
litigation, garnishments and dispossessory proceedings.
Prior to
joining Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, Ms. Benkendorf graduated cum laude from
the University of Miami School of Law in 2007, where she served as
executive editor for the Psychology, Public Policy & Law Journal. During
her time in law school, she was fortunate to experience the legal
process from both sides of the bench. Ms. Benkendorf interned in the
United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida with the
Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich, where she participated in research
projects, drafted orders, and extensively observed the justice system in
action. She also worked for a mid-sized law firm, during which time she
researched numerous legal issues related to business and drafted various
motions. Ms. Benkendorf also received hands-on experience in client
counseling, negotiation and corporate drafting in several law school
courses. In addition to her academic pursuits, Ms. Benkendorf
volunteered as law school ambassador and mentor for high school and
college students interested in the legal profession.
Ms. Benkendorf graduated
cum laude from the University of Florida in 2004 with a degree in
Journalism in 2004. This field of study permitted her to hone her
research and writing, and led to editing and reporting positions with
the student newspaper.
Ms. Benkendorf
also completed an internship with the Samuel Proctor Oral History
Program, where she was involved in extensive research projects and
completed a series of interviews for the Florida Newspaper Association
as well as the University of Florida Women’s Studies Program.
