Ervin M. Hall Jr. is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From an early age, he honed his advocacy skills by participating in high school debate. Ervin later attended Howard University, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and culture with a minor in sociology. While he attended Howard University, Ervin was actively involved with the Howard University Debate and Forensics Team, where he further honed his advocacy and collaborative skills.
Ervin received his law degree from Emory University School of Law in May 2018. During his time at Emory Law, Ervin was active in various organizations, including the Emory Black Law Students Association and the Emory Public Interest Committee. Within the Emory Black Law Students Association, he held the positions of 1L coordinator, banquet and events chair, and historian of the organization. He was also an executive managing editor of Volume 34 of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal in 2017-2018.
Before joining Meriwether and Tharp, Ervin has had a broad variety of legal experiences. His initial legal experience was as an intern with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's Alternative Dispute Resolution Office, where he gained experience with mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes. Ervin has prior experience with divorce, custody, child support, and temporary protective order matters. He has also represented clients across the state of Georgia, ranging from Metro Atlanta to South Georgia both insurance defense and family law matters.
When away from the practice of law, Ervin likes to travel and spend time with his family and friends. He also enjoys exploring his creativity with jewelry design, poetry, and art.
